Genre: Drama, Mystery. Dir: Peter Weir. 1975.
Peter Weir’s film adaptation of Joan Lindsay’s classic follows the impact on a rural Victorian boarding college of the disappearance of three girls and a teacher atop Hanging Rock.
On a beautiful, sunny St. Valentine’s Day in 1900, a group of girls from the exclusive finishing school giddily prepare for an excursion to the magnificent natural monument which is drenched in a mysterious atmosphere.
When a group disappear while exploring the upper slopes of the rock, an eerie foreboding touches all involved in the excursion.
